National Nurses Week

In 1982 May 6th was proclaimed the “National Recognition Day for Nurses”, and has since evolved into a week spanning from May 6th through May 12th – ending on Florence Nightingale’s birthday. Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, is known for her work in the Crimean War, establishment of sanitation standards, healthcare reform, and statistical analysis. Nursing has changed over the centuries to expand beyond military care and has become a gender-neutral position; it now makes up for more than half of all health professional students in school. Nurses are critical to patient care and are consistently ranked as the most trusted professionals by Gallup. We want to thank all nurses for their dedication, strength, and life-saving care!
